Splitting wood

Much to the consternation of the chickadees who were obviously hoping for a peaceful breakfast, we were out this morning and split some wood. We're starting a fire up this afternoon and may keep it going all night. You're not going to find US unprepared if the power goes out again!

At 9:30 am, it is 23 degrees and rising under sunny skies
Humidity is at 73% and steady (just for fun, if you have a way to check, compare this with your interior humidity. Here's it's 23% inside, and that's with a pot boiling on the stove.)
29.97 inches of mercury and steady (so far...check out that radar map on the bottom of the GWLT page if you want to see what's coming)
The stream is at 5.8 inches (up pretty substantially from yesterday)
Fire danger is LOW

Stay warm!
